The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation

Working to Preserve the Magnetawan Watershed

OUR MISSION

The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation’s (KWEF’s) mission is to help preserve the quality of air, water, and terrestrial ecosystems of the Almaguin area of the Magnetawan Watershed and help protect this unique natural heritage for generations to come.

The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation aims are to promote awareness of the local environment and watershed with a view to:

  • Protection of the regional drainage system and groundwater quality.

  • Providing a sustainable environment and ecology

  • Providing a base for unbiased public education.

  • Providing an environmentally friendly design for economic growth and ecotourism.

The Kearney Watershed Environmental Foundation’s role is one of stewardship. It is not a regulatory or enforcement agency.

All of our initiatives are run by volunteers and are funded by membership dues, financial support from individuals and local businesses, as well as in-kind support from organizations and businesses. In the past we have also received small grants from various sources, including the Town of Kearney

KWEF is a not for profit Canadian Corporation, governed by a small volunteer Board of Directors.
